Saugatuck Dunes State Park, July 25th, 2020

Amanda & Wade swiped right on Bumble in the midst of the global pandemic. After connecting over art, music, and a shared hope for the future, we went on our first date to Saugatuck Dunes State Park.

We packed some tequila for the trail, in an effort to stay safe and hydrated — alcohol is a disinfectant, after all.

OUR FIRST DATE

AS SUMMER TURNED TO FALL,
we went fishing together
at Wade’s Top-secret spot…

…WATCHED THE SOPRANOS, CARVED PUMPKINS, PaINTED, & spent our first THANKSGIVING TOGETHER cooking up a FEAST.

(Vino the cat even had some turkey!)

FIRST TRIPS:

Our first trek together was a quick weekend up-north to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The Cooks’ House tasting menu from that trip is still one of our favorite meals we’ve shared. Amanda found tracks outside of the Airbnb and thought they were from an elk… they turned out to be from a rabbit just resting in the snow 😅

Traverse City:

Freshly vaccinated and eager to travel safely, we headed for Nashville. Our days were spent soaking up the live music scene and treating ourselves to plenty of BBQ, craft beer, tapas, ice cream, and wood-fired pizza.

nashville:

For Amanda’s 30th birthday, we packed our bags for Las Vegas and rented a car so we could explore more than just The Strip. It ultimately turned into a scouting mission as the idea of calling the desert home started to feel surprisingly natural.

LAS VEGAS: PART I

HEADING WESTWARD

With our hearts set on Las Vegas, Amanda was thankful to have Wade and her parents’ help in listing her house on the market. Their love and support means the world, she couldn’t have done it without them!

Within a few months, we found a place just right for us, though house hunting from across the country wasn’t easy. Leaving Michigan and the people we love was bittersweet, but we looked forward to the sunshine, palm trees, and building a new life together.

LAS VEGAS: PART II

Each day in Las Vegas reminds us of how lucky we are. We’ve fallen in love with the desert hikes and unique plant life, stunning mountain views, hummingbird sightings, and quiet nights by the neighborhood pool. It’s been especially fun to show off the valley to friends and family on their travels, highlighting not just the main attractions, but also the charming hidden gems.

It’s not a perpetual vacation, but building a life here together has made it feel pretty damn close.🌄

November 25th, 2023

On a crisp evening in Zion, Wade proposed by the campfire and Amanda said "yes!". Moments later, two deer appeared under the moonlight and walked right through our campsite — almost like they were in on it.

Beginning this next adventure in such a beautiful, meaningful place feels like a dream. We’re excited for all that’s to come and are beyond thankful to have shared that milestone surrounded by the quiet magic of Zion National Park.

THE PROPOSAL

In lieu of a traditional registry,
we created a honeymoon fund.

We are planning some celebratory travel when our schedules allow in 2026. Thank you for helping us celebrate this new chapter! 🥂
